SCHENECTADY, NY (NEWS 10) -School may be out for summer, but that doesn’t mean officials have stopped planning for academic years ahead.
On Monday, State Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara was at Schenectady High with school officials, teachers, parents and students.
He announced the Schenectady City School District will see an additional $500,000 in funding this year.
“We have one of the greatest responsibilities especially in our state government to protect public education,” Santabarbara said. “There is no doubt that supporting our schools with critical resources they need to respond to many challenges they are facing every day is critical.”
Santabarbara says the time local students spend in their classrooms will shape them for the rest of their lives and one less teacher or program could have a lasting effect.
