PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) – Police are continuing to investigate two shootings that occurred in Pittsfield over the weekend.
Police said its clear more than one gun was used.
Cindy Hand lives near the scene of the shooting.
“I can’t imagine my child dying before I did,” she said. “I feel really; my heart goes out to the mother.”
Hand brought her two young sons to the lot. With the help of the nearby Christian center, they used shovels to cover up the blood.
“We are checking the area, trying to fix up the area back here, so people can come by,” Hand said.
Ellen Merritt is the executive director of the Christian center. She said Pinel’s mother is a member of the center.
“Mother’s just so devastated,” Merritt said. “So we’re trying to get together as a community and try to help pull something together to help her with burying her son.”
Police are also investigating a call of shots fired that occurred Sunday afternoon on Robbins Avenue just around the corner from the original shooting. Authorities said it’s likely the two shootings are related.
NEWS10 cameras were rolling when police took a man into custody down the block from the Robbins shooting. Neighbors said the victim’s family was at the yellow house.
Investigators said the man was arrested for a parole violation but declined to say much more.
“Let’s hope this is the end of it, and we need to come together as a community in peace,” Bianchi said.
