QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say an elderly man was pinned under a tractor trailer at a private residence on State Route 149.
Officials say on Monday June 22 at 11:49 a.m., the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a male subject stuck under a tractor.
By the time EMS crews got there, the male victim had been removed from under the tractor. The male victim is being identified as 72-year-old Francis I. Martindale of Queensbury.
Preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that Martindale was operating a Belarus Shuttle, 9345 Turbo tractor, towing a 14 ft. trailer containing firewood. Martindale stopped the tractor and exited the cab. After he exited the cab, the tractor and trailer began to roll forward.
Martindale attempted to re-enter the cab of the moving tractor, but was run over by the driver side rear tire of the tractor. At this point in the investigation it is unclear why the tractor moved forward after Martindale got out of the cab.
Martindale was taken by helicopter to Albany Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety and Criminal Investigations Units assisted Patrol Officer John Bateholts at the scene.
