ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – When Hoffman’s Playland closed last year, thousands were devastated.
Since 1951, the Hoffman’s operated the amusement park in Latham.
After closing, they had hoped to find someone to buy the rides.
Just as they were about to go to auction, the rides found a new home.
Huck Finn’s moved the rides to the new location next to the furniture store of the same name in Albany’s warehouse district.
The president of Capitalize Albany, Sarah Reginelli, said this is a monumental step forward in the growing community there as well as connecting Downtown Albany to the Warehouse District.
Childhood memories are coming back to life as Huck Finns Playland celebrated its opening.
Thursday is the park’s soft opening. They will be open from 5-9 p.m. They are expecting a crowd when the park opens.
Friday is the big first full day, the park opens at noon.
Crews have been busy, doing the last minute checks and putting the final touches on the park.
