Housing authority from Troy charged with welfare fraud

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A Troy housing authority official has been arrested.

The Welfare Inspector General’s Office says 57-year-old Paul Moses collected nearly $50,000 in public assistance that he was not entitled to.

In an application for food stamps, Moses said he had no employment or income, but investigators say he has been working as a bartender for the past nine years.

He has been a tenant representative, elected to the authority’s board of commissioners since 2009.

Moses is now charged with grand larceny and welfare fraud.
