COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say they arrested a man for allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with a 7-year-old boy.
Colonie Police say on June 4 they arrested 55-year-old Craig Tarbox of Millers Corners in East Greenbush after a month long investigation. The case was assisted by the Albany Police Department and New York State Police.
Tarbox was previously convicted of second degree sodomy in 1985 for an incident involving an underage victim.
There are no other charges pending, but due to the nature of the offense and the belief that the defendant may have victimized other children, police are urging anyone that has any information about the defendant or who may have been victimized to call the Colonie Police Department at 783-2744 or their local police department.
“He did indicate he has a lot of contact with children in a volunteer capacity in a range of different locations,” Colonie Police Lt. Bob Winn said. “He did not say any other victims. We don’t know based on this charge and previous convictions in the past, we are very concerned there are may be other victims out there.”
Police say Tarbox is facing charges of sexual abuse, forcible touching, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Tarbox was arraigned in Colonie Justice Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail. He’s scheduled to reappear on June 8.
