ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Some Freihofer’s Run for Women participants spoke with local schools about their training and experiences.
The 37th annual Freihofer’s Run for Women will take place on Saturday and is one of the world’s largest all-female road races. But some athletes got a head start on the fun. They met with some local kids and taught them the rules of the road.
The athletes who participate in the run are some of the best in the world. Some took time to visit a number of Capital Region schools to talk about how hard they train, eating healthy and what it is like to compete in the Olympics.
Both the children and the athletes love it.
“I love it,” master runner Melody Fairchild said. “I love being able to speak from my own experience to tell them stories about how I began. Tell them stories about my journey and to be able to be living and walking my talk right now.”
Last year, Fairchild ran Freihofer’s in 17:12.
