CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A hardworking bunch of Shenendehowa High School seniors gathered in the library on Wednesday to commemorate their college commitments.
Seven Plainsmen signed national letters of intent to pursue their athletic careers. Four at Division 1 and three in Division 2.
Their sports range from field hockey and soccer to swimming and crew. Though their college choices are unique, all are in the Northeast.
No student staying closer than Adel Cekic who will join the Siena soccer team next year.
“My sibling goes there right now, and great soccer team, and I wanted to go into business and they have a great business program, so I felt like it was the school for me,” he said.
Chandler Moore and Robert Bailey will continue to be teammates as both will row at Marist. But it wasn’t planned.
“There was a time at a regatta, the coach said hi to me, and he had no idea Chandler was there, and Chandler was like, ‘Hey, I’m over here, too,'” Bailey said. “And he’s like, ‘Oh, my gosh. You guys are on the same team. I had no idea’ So it just happened by chance, but he’s a great guy, so I’m happy to be rowing with him.”
“Going into college knowing someone and knowing their specific style of rowing and their technique will definitely help out the team in the long run,” Moore said.
This was the fifth signing ceremony at Shen this year.
