Rensselaer man faces felony charges for stealing power from National Grid

SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Brunswick police have arrested a Rensselaer man for stealing power through National Grid.

Police say 51-year-old Stephen Erickson reportedly used a stolen National Grid meter to obtain electrical power at his home. Law enforcement was notified about Erickson’s activity by the company.

Erickson has been charged with felony grand larceny as well as several misdemeanor charges. He was arraigned in the Town of Brunswick Court and posted a $20,000 secured bond.

Erickson was then turned over to State Police in Massena on an outstanding misdemeanor bench warrant.

Officials say he will appear in the Town of Schaghticoke Court at a later date.
