TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The third annual #trending4fashion fashion show will take place in Troy in June.
#trending4fashion is an event that recognizes individuals who have battled cancer or are currently in the fight against cancer. It was created by Rachael Murray who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in August 2012 at the age of 16.
The third annual #trending4fashion fashion show will take place on June 18 at Revolution Hall in downtown Troy. Murray has set the goal to raise $20,000 with proceeds to benefit The Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center.
The fashion show raised $10,000 in its first year, and $15,000 in its second year with the proceeds going to the LLS Man and Woman of the Year Campaigns, according to Murray.
Murray said the event spreads a message of awareness, hope and inspiration to the honoree, their family, their support network and the attendees with the goal of leaving with a positive and empowered attitude toward their fight against cancer.
This year’s show will feature 10 local childhood cancer survivors ranging in ages 2 to 23. Twelve doctors, nurses and staff from the Melodies Center will also walk the red carpet and model clothing from local businesses in Troy and Albany.
The money will be raised through sponsorships, donations and gift cards or gift certificates for both a live and silent auction.
The Melodies Center will use the proceeds to offer care, financial assistance to patients for expenses for transportation, medication testing and providing free educational materials and events for patients and their families, according to Murray.
