EAST GREENBUSH, NY – Parade lovers got an early start to the holiday weekend Saturday morning in East Greenbush.
“As families across the Capital Region celebrate Memorial Day with family and friends, please join me in taking a moment to remember the many soldiers and their loved ones who have sacrificed so much in continued defense of our nation,” Congressman Paul Tonko said.
Tonko and others spoke at the American Legion, Melvin Road Post 1231 after the parade.
“Thank you to those who have served and those who continue to serve today,” he added. “Happy Memorial Day.”
There will be many more parades this weekend, including the Albany Memorial Day Parade, which forms at 9 a.m. Monday at Ontario Street and Central Avenue. The reviewing stand will be at the State Education building on Washington Avenue.
