EASTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) – State Police say two truck drivers from Troy were involved in an accident in the Town of Easton.
Police from Greenwich say on Thursday they investigated a serious personal injury accident on ST-40. Numerous 911 calls were received reporting two trucks colliding just north of Crandall’s Corners Rd. just before noon.
The investigation revealed that a ‘13 Freightliner box truck delivering appliances and being operated by 31-year-old Michael Rodriguez from Troy, had run into the rear of a ’99 International Harvester flatbed driven by 35-yr-old Robert LaPierre, also from Troy. LaPierre was delivering supplies for 84 Lumber and had turned north onto ST-40 from CR-54 when he was struck from behind by Rodriguez’s vehicle.
Both drivers and a passenger from Rodriguez’s vehicle were treated at the scene. Rodriguez, who’s not believed to have been wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Samaritan Hospital for a serious head laceration. He was later transferred to Albany Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition.
The investigation is ongoing and State Police are asking that any witnesses to the accident call 692-3001 at SP Greenwich.
