Increased travel expected for Memorial Day weekend

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Drivers can expect to see more vehicles on the road the next few days due to increased travel over the holiday weekend.

Police will be stepping up patrols to ensure safety of all drivers on the road.

Authorities’ statewide enforcement, “STOP-DWI” begins Friday. This is a team effort of state and local police to reduce the number of injuries and deaths during this period.

In light of the busy traffic expected, governor Cuomo has shut down all road and bridge construction projects to make traveling smoother.

This enforcement will end Tuesday May 26th.

Police are urging all travelers to be careful and have a travel plan before you head out the door.
