Fast food workers fight to raise minimum wage

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -Fast food workers and their allies will be kicking off a statewide campaign Wednesday urging the Governors Wage Board to implement a $15 wage.

Fast food workers and local state elected officials will be gathering at the State Capitol Wednesday at 10 a.m. to call for the governor to bump up the salaries of fast food workers from their current hourly rate of $8.75 to $15.

Wednesday event will coincide with the first meeting of the Wage Board.

The Wage Board was convened by Cuomo to “to set fast-food workers on a path out of poverty, ease the burden on taxpayers and create a new national standard.”
