ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -Due to the passing of Proposition 2, construction of a new turf athletic field will take place at Albany High School.
With 69 percent of the vote, voters are speaking loud and clear this is a pertinent issue that needs to be taken care of sooner rather than later.
The construction of the field will allow the school to host varsity football, soccer and lacrosse games on campus for the first time in city history.
Measure also calls for a fence around the field, improvements to the school’s drainage and parking and new bleachers, press box, sound system and field lights.
The total cost for the project is about $2.5 million. According to the Albany City School
District, the cost covered without any additional tax impact on residents or businesses.
The district says it will be allocating over $800 thousand of the $2.5 million from its own funds and the rest coming from state aid.
