Walkers raise money for cystic fibrosis research

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Dozens of walkers hit the pavement for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraiser, Great Strides, on Saturday at The Crossings of Colonie.

The 5K raised over $80,000 towards cystic fibrosis research. It’s a cause close to the hearts of many, especially Tracy Van Hattum.

Van Hattum’s now 5-year-old son was born with cystic fibrosis, but, she says he doesn’t allow it to hold him back. “He’ll be right up there running with everyone.”

Combined with the over 500 walks across the country, the foundation is expected to raise $43 million.
