Bystanders break into hot car in East Greenbush to rescue child

Min Tun (East Greenbush PD)

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (NEWS10) – It’s a situation we warn about every spring and summer, the danger of leaving children in hot cars.

Earlier this week some good samaritans came to the rescue of a child in that situation, and now police say a man is facing charges for leaving him there.

Police say 39-year-old Min Tun was charged with child endangerment after police say he left a 2-year-old boy in a locked car on Monday afternoon at the East Greenbush Walmart. Temperatures climbed into the 80’s that day.

Witnesses told police the boy was screaming in the car, so they broke in and got the child out. There is no word yet if the boy suffered any injuries.
