BRUNSWICK, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Officials say four suspects were seen allegedly using counterfeit money to buy gift cards.
According to officials, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Officers responded to a complaint from the Brunswick WalMart concerning counterfeit money found in their cash registers on April 10.
Officials say WalMart managers counted three different cashiers drawers and found $1,900 worth of counterfeit bills in $50’s and $100’s.
After surveillance video was reviewed, Deputies were able to provide photos of four suspects.
Deputies say the four men used phony bills to purchase gift cards and investigators were able to identify one of the four suspects. That suspect was taken into custody at the Rensselaer County Courthouse when he appeared in reference to another pending case.
Investigators say they charged 20-year-old Regginald Pass of Troy with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Grand Larceny, and misdemeanor Petit Larceny.
