Police: Clifton Park man steals woman’s purse, off-duty trooper takes action

Adam Concepcion, 21

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Authorities say a man was arrested after he mugged a woman in front of an off-duty trooper.

Police say 21-year-old Adam Concepcion of Clifton Park was arrested for Grand larceny in the fourth degree.

He was arrested at the Lowes store in Halfmoon on May 6 shortly after he stole a ladies purse from a shopping cart which belonged to a female shopper. Police say the shopper had been in close proximity to the shopping cart and noticed almost immediately that her purse had been stolen and saw him run with her purse.

The female shopper now turned victim, quickly alerted people in the immediate area by yelling “He has my purse!”

An off-duty Trooper was in the store when he observed the man running past him with the woman’s purse and also noticed the woman yelling. The Trooper quickly responded to action and detained Concepcion until on-duty patrols were able to respond to the scene.

Concepcion was arraigned in the Town of Clifton Park Court and was remanded to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of bail. He is to appear at the Town of Halfmoon Court on a later date.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department.
