ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Three cars caught fire in a University at Albany parking lot Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. Wednesday when a Honda caught on fire in the Colonial Quad parking lot at UAlbany, according to Karl Lunta of UAlbany. The Albany Fire Department responded to the scene.
Two other cars also caught fire. All three were completely destroyed, according to Lunta.
Lunta said the fire was extinguished quickly, but university police with the help of Guilderland police had to shut down part of the campus main road.
The university said it will help the students involved with any academic issues that could result from the fire, including if they lost any academic work or need to talk to professors about anything academic related.
The Albany Fire Department is handling the investigation. The cause is still unknown.
Investigators are looking into all possibilities of how the fire may have started. They are talking to the owner of the Honda to try and determine what happened.
There were 200 cars in the parking lot at the time.
