ULSTER, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Establishing laws for the use of drones has been a hot topic of discussion among lawmakers in recent months.
On Friday a local man is expected to appear in court on allegations that he used his drone to spy on people at a hospital. Witnesses are expected to testify when Dave Beesmer appears in Ulster County Court.
State Police say Beesmer took video with a drone outside a MidHudson medical facility last year, pointing his camera at examination rooms where patients had quote, “a high expectation of privacy.”
On Beesmer’s Facebook, he says he made a huge error in judgment by flying his drone near the facility. He also said his camera can’t see through the windows anyway.
He’s being charged with unlawful surveillance.
