Bard College student charged with raping another student

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Police say they have arrested a Bard College student following an investigation into a sexual assault.

KetchumThe Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office says they have arrested 22-year-old Sam Ketchum for rape in the Town of Red Hook. Ketchum and the victim are both students of Bard College.

Police say the incident allegedly occurred at the victim’s residence during the early morning hours of Feb. 8 of this year. The incident was reported to the college shortly after it occurred, however, it wasn’t reported to police for over two months. It was reported to the Sheriff’s Office by the victim’s attorney on April 16 and a week-long investigation by detectives followed.

Police arrested and charged Ketchum on April 24. He is accused of having sexual intercourse with the victim without their consent.

Police say further details of the incident, including the victim’s name, will not be released for privacy and sensitivity reasons.

After being processed, Ketchum was arraigned before the Town of Red Hook Court and released on $2,500 cash bail.
