ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – During an Earth Day assembly, students in kindergarten through fourth grade at Forest Park Elementary were recognized for participating in the Entenmann’s Little Bites Pouch Brigade.

Friday’s assembly included demonstrations and video presentations of the Entenmann’s Little Bites recycling process, and eco-tips from the Arbor Day Foundation.

Students received Little Bites, and an up-cycled pencil cases made from pouches, but that’s not the only reward they received for collecting over 2,500 pouches in three years.

Entenmann’s also partnered with the Arbor Day foundation during earth month for a unique Facebook sweepstakes which is helping plant up to 25,000 trees in forests in need throughout the U.S.

On Friday students planted 50 tree saplings at the school, donated by the New York State Department of Conservation.
