M&T Bank release statement about phone scheme

AVERILL PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Fraudulent numbers demanding account information over the phone have been happening more and more frequently around the Capital Region.

The latest case comes from a viewer in Averill Park, where the number that called was asking information about an M&T Bank account that the man does not even have. NEWS10ABC reached out to M&T bank and they released a statement.

“As a reminder, M&T Bank would never call customers requesting personal information. Should you receive a suspicious call, or have questions or concerns, contact M&T directly,” said the bank.
