TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York’s acting Health Commissioner will be doing some digging today as an effort to promote National Public Health Week.
Howard Zucker will be at Capital Roots in Troy at 10:30 a.m., an urban community garden project at 8th Street at Hutton Street, highlighting the importance of access to healthy food in the fight against obesity. In addition to the statewide tour, the state Department of Health will also be providing health tips through social media under the hashtag, #GetFitNYS.
Governor Cuomo’s office said earlier this week that obesity has reached “epidemic levels” here in New York. For more information on ways to stay fit and eat healthy visit: http://www.health.ny.gov/GetFitNYS.
