ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Senator Chuck Schumer announced today that JetBlue Airlines will soon be flying out of Albany.
Beginning December 10th direct flights will take off from Albany to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Tickets are already on sale on JetBlue’s website. Senator Schumer says these long-awaited direct flights will be the first of many.
Senator Schumer says he pushed hard to bring Jetblue to the Capital Region. He visited Albany International Airport last year to make the case for another low-cost carrier to establish service at the airport, specifically pushing for Jetblue. Over the past year he has met with top Jetblue officials numerous times about Albany as part of his campaign to expand air service in the state.
At today’s announcement Senator Schumer was joined by Chief Operating Officer of Albany International Airport John O’Donnell and Vice President of JetBlue Airlines Jeffery Goodell.
