ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Red Cross is kicking off what’s known as “the month of the military child” with free events specifically for children whose parents are in the military.

The first say is Monday at SEFCU, where the kids will get a behind the scenes look at the company. On Wednesday, military children will get a chance to live a day in the life of a police officer, with the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

April was designated the month of the military child back in 1986, as a way to recognize the sacrifices they make while growing up in a military family.
