PITTSTOWN, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Pittstown Fire Department and Raymertown Fire Department rescued a dog from the ice at the Tomhannock Reservoir over the weekend.

Officials say the dog was stuck near Nortonville Road and there was another dog with him at the time that ran away. The owners couldn’t be located so an Animal Control Officer took custody and turned to Facebook for help.

Austin, the Animal Control Officer in Pittstown says the female dog who is still on the run must have bad experience with a man because she will not come to him when he calls, but would with females. He says it is very hard to find a dog in the particular area where she is lost, and he has a box trap set to help bring her in. The male dog is currently at Creekside Kennels.

If you may know who the dogs belong to please call the Animal Control Officer at 518-727-9863.
