WEST SAND LAKE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – As a result of a three month investigation, the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for possessing nearly 100 marijuana plants.
Officials say on April 2 a search warrant was executed at 17 Morlock Drive in the Town of West Sand Lake. The investigation was initiated by the actions of an alert deputy who was patrolling the area and observed suspicious activity back in January.
Cameron Conery, 26 of West Sand Lake was arrested and charged with one count each of criminal possession of marihuana and unlawful growing of cannabis. He was arraigned in Sand Lake and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail on $2,500 bail.
Investigators say they seized 96 marihuana plants in various stages of growth, weighing nearly 50 pounds. They also say the residence was equipped with a sophisticated indoor growing system along with a supply of fertilizers, scales and packaging materials. It is estimated that this could have produced approximately $45,000 of income for the defendant.
