COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – We’re finally getting some nice weather, people are breaking their bikes out, but Old Man Winter has left his mark on some of our roads.
Vly road in Colonie is a mess from frost heaves and potholes, but roads conditions will see a permanent fix soon.
As weather breaks, so do our roads. Some areas are covered in unruly conditions and workers say this winter has been more difficult than others.
The frost is deeper, the temperatures colder, and crews are keeping up with patchwork, but Colonie DPW commissioner, Jack Cunningham says it’s just a temporary fix. Drivers should be aware of the real work coming up.
“The plans for paving are opening next week so we can actually go out and get hot mix and do permanent repairs on some of the more major potholes. Up until now we’ve only be able to use the cold mix which is a temporary fix. it’s kind of like getting a temporary filling,” said Cunningham.
Potholes aren’t just a nuisance, they’re dangerous; especially for motorcyclists, and we will start seeing a lot of them in the roads.
The nicer weather is right around the corner, and April is the month people have to register their motorcycles.
