The theft was reported on March 27, after the complainant came back to her home and discovered her 15-year-old mare named Ruby missing from her barn.

The investigating trooper learned that Holcomb had been in contact with a previous owner of the horse in an attempt to gain documentation of ownership. When confronted by the State Police, she admitted being responsible for the theft of both the horse and some tack equipment.

She turned herself in, and after processing, was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear at the Town of Hebron Court on April 20.

The horse was returned to the owner with the assistance of the local Animal Control Officer.
