ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Albany County legislature is now considering new legislation aimed at preventing kids for accessing and using tobacco products.
Last September the legislature passed Local Law D which would have banned tobacco sales in Albany county pharmacies, but the measure was vetoed by county executive Dan McCoy.
The latest proposal tries to offer a new alternative. It would require any retailer that sells tobacco products or E-cigarettes to become licensed with the county.
Albany County Legislator Tim Nichols hopes to have a public hearing on it late this month or in May.
