Breaking down barriers with fashion

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Capital Region women walked the runway Saturday, using fashion to break down social barriers. That was the aim of Best Buddies at their fashion show in Albany.

More than 200 women joined together to strut their stuff with a mission of leaving no one out. The 3rd annual luncheon and fashion show promoted friendship and social inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Volunteers walked the runway modeling Lord & Taylor’s spring collection.

Best Buddies has chapters throughout school districts in the Capital Region, pairing students with a general education with students who have intellectual or developmental disabilities. It’s a cause that’s very important to News10 ABC’s Christina Arangio, who emceed the event.

Proceeds from the event will go toward paying for programs in different schools and creating more chapters for Best Buddies.
