One killed in weekend Northway accident near Clifton Park

SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — State Police in Clifton Park is currently investigating a fatal accident on the Northway between exits 10 and 11 southbound, which occurred Sunday morning.

The vehicles involved were a 2000 Dodge Caravan with six occupants, all from the Bronx, New York and a 2014 International Tractor Trailer with the lone driver based out of Corinth, New York.

The Dodge Caravan was southbound and either stopped or driving very slowly in the right lane with a flat front drivers side tire. The tractor trailer, also south bound in the right lane, failed to see the slowed or stopped Dodge Caravan — striking it from behind.

Both vehicles came to rest after the collision in the right and center lane of the Northway.

One occupant from the caravan was pronounced dead at the scene by Saratoga County Coroner and taken to Saratoga Hospital.

The five other occupants were transported to Albany Medical Center for medical treatment. Their medical conditions aren’t available at this time.

The driver of the tractor trailer suffered minor injuries and refused any additional medical attention.
