Police: 3 teens break into local high school, face felony burglary charges

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)— The Albany County Sheriff’s Office says they have arrested three teens from Berne on felony burglary charges.

Police say the suspects broke into the Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School around 1 a.m. on Saturday and stole food and drinks from the cafeteria. They are also accused of stealing computer equipment and money from the Main Office. The estimated value of the stolen property is over $2,000.

Police say the teens also damaged several classroom doors and a commercial floor cleaner. Officials estimate the damage at over $7,000.

After viewing the high school’s video surveillance, Police and the school’s faculty were able to identify the suspects as three Berne teens. Investigators located the teens and discovered the stolen property in their possession.

The teens each face felony Grand Larceny, felony Criminal Mischief, and felony Burglary charges along with two misdemeanors.
