ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Some defects were found in the Capital Region following oil tank car and rail inspections in New York.
Inspectors say they found three critical issues involving missing bolts in rail joints along the track and switches between Fort Edward and Burnt Hills. They were immediately repaired.
Global Partners in Albany was issued two violations. One was for missing a plug on a sample line and the other was for failing to apply a cap lock on a vapor line.
The safety of oil tanker cars has been a big issue in the area recently, following derailments of similar types of trains that have caused devastating fires elsewhere.
Politicians like Senator Chuck Schumer have called for stricter safety regulations on the rails.
