SCOTIA, N.Y. – Eight Section II champions hoisted their trophies over the weekend, including Scotia.
The Tartans victory, however, overshadowed a huge milestone. Joe Cremo scored his 2,000th career point in the win. It came on a free throw in the second quarter, which was the fourteenth out of his 25 points in the game.
With that, Cremo joins an exclusive club with only nine other members in Section II.
“It’s just a blessing to be up there with however many guys that are up there,” he said. “I wouldn’t be up there without my teammates, my coaches, all the hard work they put in with me. I wouldn’t be able to put the ball in the basket without them.”
“What a stage to get that milestone at,” head coach James Giammettei said. “You get one Joe Cremo in a coaching career at a school like Scotia.”
Scotia won its third straight Section II Class A title.
