LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – It’s a work in progress, but, officials say come June, what used to be King’s Buffet will be the first ever Sonic Drive-In located on Troy-Schenectady Road.
Officials said the $2 million project will revitalize the empty property and create about 50 jobs. The franchise has also agreed to develop seven more drive-ins in the area over the next seven years after the first one is finished being built in the spring.
The spokesperson for Sonic, Colleen Pierson, said she doesn’t know where those seven other locations will be, but she does know the Capital Region residents are in for a big treat with their dining experience.
“You can pull up and order pressing a red button. Car hops come out to your car and take your order and bring the food out to you. So, it’s really unique and I don’t think any other place offers what sonic offers,” said Pierson.
