COLONIE, N.Y. – The Suburban Council six-seed has made the semifinals.
The Colonie girls are putting on their glass slippers not just because of their regular season record but because of their youth.
Three eighth graders and a freshman are in the team’s top seven. The young Garnett Raiders knocked off Albany in the quarterfinals but don’t tell them it was luck.
“I think our defense is one of the best in the section, and they believe in it,” head coach Heather Fiore said. “They work together, and they help each other out. And our defense is just amazing. And at this point in the season, that’s what you need.”
