Residents of North Adams asked to keep faucets running

NORTH ADAMS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The mayor in the city is calling for residents to leave their water running inside their homes.

Officials say due to the continued water main breaks and dozens of calls regarding frozen water pipes, Mayor Dick Alcombright is asking all residents to leave one faucet in your home or business running on a very slow trickle until further notice.

Record cold temperatures have pushed the frost in many cases five feet into the ground putting water mains at a greater risk for freezing.

Running a very slow trickle of water in one faucet can significantly reduce the possibility of further problems.

Residents will be notified when the city is beyond some of these issues.  NEWS10ABC is dedicated to keeping you updated with the latest.
