BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. — A Saratoga County woman whose appeal of a manslaughter conviction was rejected was taken into custody Wednesday.

Authorities say Traci Briskin was impaired by alcohol and driving recklessly when she ran a stop sign in Charlton back in 2012. She hit a car, driven by Thomas Baker, who later died.

Briskin was found guilty of manslaughter in the second degree and driving while ability impaired.  She was sentenced to 2 ½ to 7 ½ years in State Prison in connection to a fatal crash. She was released on $75,000 cash bail during her appeal.

That appeal was rejected in February 2015, and Briskin was taken into custody Wednesday. A judge says the original sentence of 2 ½ to 7 ½ years in State Prison still stands.
