TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) –Police in the city have arrested two different people in connection to a shooting that occurred Monday night.
Police say the late night shooting happened in the area of 1st Ave and 115th St. around 10:40 p.m. Patrol officers in the area say they quickly responded and located the victim’s car a short distance away. The victim, an 18-year-old male from Troy was treated at Samaritan Hospital and released.
A section of 1st Ave. was closed off while crews canvassed the scene for evidence. During investigation, detectives were able to determine the building where the suspects fled to. They then obtained a search warrant for that building.
The Troy Police SWAT team also assisted in the execution of the warrant.
Detectives say they found two handguns and a shotgun as a result of the warrant. Further investigation revealed the two handguns were not “real” guns. Two individuals inside the residence were arrested for possession of a weapon due to their status as convicted felons. Their names are 41-year-old Johnny Falu and 28-year-old Fabian Rodriguez, both of Troy.
Both defendants were arraigned in Troy City Court Tuesday morning. The investigation into the shooting is still underway.
