NY Attorney General questions authenticity of herbal supplements

NEW YORK (NEWS10) – New York Attorney General, Eric Schneiderman says he’s expanding an herbal supplement investigation that he detailed earlier this month.

Schneiderman has ordered 4 major retailers to pull store-brand herbal supplements from their shelves 3 weeks ago after his office said DNA tests found little or none of the listed herbs.

On Monday the Attorney General sent letters to four manufactures in New York, California, and Utah demanding detailed ingredient and quality control information on every herbal supplement they sell in New York State.

The companies involved include Walmart, Walgreen’s, Target, and GNC stores in the state.
