New findings on children considered ‘at risk’ for having a peanut allergy

CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A new study reveals surprising findings about how to handle your children if they are considered “at risk” for a peanut allergy.

For years medical experts have told parents to avoid exposing their children to peanuts if they are prone to an allergy, this is no longer the case.

A new ground-breaking study states that if you want to prevent your child from developing a peanut allergy early exposure to peanuts is best.

Experts recommend exposing at risk child to peanuts between the age of 4- 11 months old; by doing so experts report seeing a decrease in the development of a peanut allergy by 80 percent.

Experts advise that the allergy prone child is in the presence of a doctor, or a doctor has been forewarned before introducing them to peanuts.
