Governor Cuomo calls for investigation of teacher evaluations

NEW YORK STATE (NEWS10) – Governor Andrew Cuomo says the State Education Department should investigate the results of teacher evaluations to see whether or not the process is skewed.

Information off of a Newsday report says the portion of teacher evaluations controlled by districts is biased in most Long Island districts toward ensuring teachers score high enough to get favorable evaluations.

The New York State United Teachers responded with a statement saying each district’s teacher evaluation plan was approved by the education department.

The union is accusing Cuomo of scapegoating teachers for a state-directed process.
