Troy couple arrested for shoplifting and endangering the welfare of a child

BRUNSWICK, N.Y. (NEWS10)— State Police have charged a Troy couple for shoplifting from Walmart and putting an 8-year-old in danger when they ran from law enforcement.

Police say 44-year-old Clarence Palmer and 30-year-old Samantha Sheard, both of Troy, were arrested and charged following an incident in Brunswick on Saturday. State Police were dispatched to the Walmart on Hoosick Rd. for a report of a male and female shoplifting. While police were responding, the couple ran from the store’s security officer, taking with them Sheard’s 8-year-old child. While running away from the store, the couple led the child through heavy traffic with little regard for passing vehicles. A short time later, police say they located the couple and the child uninjured in a nearby restaurant.

Palmer and Sheard were both charged with two misdemeanors for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Petit Larceny. Both are scheduled to appear in the Town of Brunswick Court at a later date.
