Vacant Schenectady home destroyed in fire

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Schenectady Fire Department is investigating the destruction of a vacant house on Carrie Street.

The fire occurred Thursday afternoon. The fire was so powerful the roof collapsed.

An assistant fire chief said seven rigs and 20 crew members were called in to fight the fire to save a neighboring home.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
