GALWAY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A 20-year-old man who police say beat his mother and father with an aluminum baseball bat and fled appeared in court Thursday.
“The father was in his bedroom,” Lt. Jeff Brown said. “The assault occurred. There was an assault on both folks, and the suspect fled in his mother’s vehicle.”
Brown said Audrey somehow made it to a neighbor’s house who called for help. Both were transported to Albany Medical Center in critical condition with serious head injuries and each had a broken arm. Their condition has since been upgraded to serious.
“The motive is going to the heart of our evidence and our case so I can’t make any comment on the motive at this point,” said Lt. Brown.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation revealed that the couple’s son, Brandon Fisher, assaulted the two with an aluminum baseball bat before fleeing the scene in his mother’s vehicle.
“We did work extensively for probably 15 hours straight trying to locate him, and investigators worked hard,” Brown said. “With using social media, we were able to narrow down where he was located.”
Less than an hour after investigators were called, Brandon posted messages on Facebook.
Fisher was arraigned and remanded to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash or $150,000 bond. Further investigation and additional charges are pending.
Fisher appeared in court on Thursday and was issued a restraining order for both parents. A mental health screening was also ordered. He was remanded back to jail with the same bail.
As he left court, Fisher said he loved his parents. He’s due back in court March 15th.
