RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Raleigh teenager whose efforts to land a job at Chick-fil-A became a social media sensation has been hired, the company confirmed.

He is scheduled to get trained on the job Friday afternoon.

Yasir Moore went into a Target store to buy a clip-on tie before an interview at the Chick-fil-A at Triangle Town Center. The Target didn’t have clip-on ties, but the employees soon helped Moore tie a tie and get ready for the interview.

Shopper Audrey D. Mark saw what was going on and snapped a photo of a Target employee helping Moore tie a tie.

Mark shared the photo with Target on its Facebook page on Feb. 4 and the moment exploded across social media.

“A kid came in looking for a clip-on tie for a job interview this afternoon. The store only had regular ties, so this awesome Target team member took the time to help the nervous teen put on his new tie,” Mark wrote.

Burnita Matthews, a witness and Target shopper, said, “It just really touched my heart. You hear so many bad things now, you don’t hear about people helping people.”

Matthews said she could see the employees on their knees helping the young man, and she thought, “What is going on?” She heard the employees encouraging him and saying, “You can do this, you can get this job.”

The employee even helped the kid tuck in his shirt properly and then showed him how to give a proper handshake. Mark said the employee even help the teen out with a couple of practice interview questions.

Target manager R.J. Jasso said, “It’s part of our job. At Target, we want to make sure we engage every guest.”

Mark said the Target employees were enthusiastic about the young man’s chances.

“As the kid went to leave, and he looked great, all the other team members started screaming, ‘Bye! Good luck! You’re going to do great!” said Mark.

Moore eventually landed the job at Chick-fil-A after a multiple interview process.
