ALBANY, N.Y. – The Albany Devils have three more games to play to earn a spot in the play offs.
In the AHL, every win in regulation is worth two points. Every game that goes into overtime is one point. If a team wins in overtime, it gets another point to equal the two for a win.
The eight teams with the most points in each conference at the end of the regular season make the playoffs.
If the season ended right now, the Albany Devils would not make it. They’re three points out of a playoff spot. But they have three games this weekend where they’ll try to gain some ground.
“Getting some bodies back in the lineup will certainly give us a boost and taking advantage of our home ice this weekend,” Devils head coach Rick Kowalsky said. “And to all teams that we’re chasing in the standings. From weekend to weekend you want to make sure you’re making up ground and not losing it.”
The Devils will play Hershey first on Friday night.
